Brothers on the Rise Summer Soiree

Brothers on the Rise celebrated our First Anniversary Summer Soiree!

We raised a glass to success, responsibility, peace and justice for Oakland boys.

The inaugural event was held at Two Mile Wines in Berkeley on Sunday, June 7, 2009 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Two Mile Wines was selected as the Best Bay Area Winery by SFGate's Baylist. Those who joined us saw why for themselves.

Highlights of the Soiree included a Silent Auction, complimentary wine tasting, hors d'oeuvres, and live music. Wine, Sangria and beer was also sold by the glass. Proceeds and a percent of wine sold at the event is helping maintain and expand Brothers on the Rise programs.

We would like to extend a special thanks to all of the generous supporters who helped make the Soiree a success.

Brothers on the Rise provides gender-responsive skill building and support for at-risk male youth in Oakland through counseling, conflict resolution, community organizing, leadership, mentoring and workforce development. We also provide families, teachers and youth workers with trainings and staff development around working with boys and young men. Our activities empower male youth to achieve individual success, develop healthy relationships and contribute to a just and equitable society.
